The Lord Mayors of Australia's capital cities today welcomed the decade of actions identified in the National Urban Policy released by the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Anthony Albanese but said partnership between governments was crucial for effective project delivery.
Providing a framework to guide the development of Australia's 18 biggest cities, 'Our Cities, Our Future' defines an ongoing role for the Federal Government in Australia's cities and outlines the goals, objectives and principles which will underpin the Gillard Government's future infrastructure investment and program delivery in cities.

The Lord Mayors of Australia’s capital cities have welcomed a $180 million investment in Australia’s cities as a down payment towards delivering more productive, sustainable and liveable cities.
Funding announced in tonight’s Federal Budget includes $20 million for urban renewal projects and better public spaces, $61 million to reduce congestion through smarter roads and motorway infrastructure and $100 million for infrastructure to support employment centres in outer metropolitan areas.

The new site – Local Government Alcohol and Drugs Info Net (LGADIN) – is aimed at building and enhancing the capacity of local councils to reduce the harm of drugs and alcohol.
