The City of Melbourne is Victoria’s national and international gateway, the seat of the Victorian Government and the headquarters of many Victorian, national and international companies, peak bodies, non-government organisations and Australian Government agencies.

The Right Honorable Robert Doyle, Lord Mayor

Robert Doyle was elected Lord Mayor of Melbourne in December 2008 by popular mandate of the City of Melbourne. He campaigned on the issues of city saftey, youth homelessness, economic development and traffic management issues. 

Mr Doyle is a Principal at The Nous Group and, since 2007, has been Chairman of Melbourne Health (The Royal Melbourne Hospital).

Mr Doyle is Chairman of the Melbourne Hospital Foundation and a Trustee of the Shrine of Remembrance. He is an Ambassador for Odyssey House, a drug and alcohol abuse rehabilitation facility and an Ambassador for SecondBite, a not-for profit organisation committed to making a positive difference by sourcing fresh food that would otherwise go to waste and distributing to the disadvantaged and homeless.

A Member of Victoria’s Parliament for 14 years, Mr Doyle was Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Liberal Party for four years. He has also been Shadow Minister for Health and, in government, Parliamentary Secretary for Health.

Mr Doyle has extensive experience of regulatory, legislative and legal frameworks, as well as all aspects of
public policy.

Mr Doyle is a an ex-officio member of all the Melbourne City Council committees, but chairs the Council meetings and is a member of the Audit Committee.
