Hobart City Council  Minimize

Hobart is the nation’s second oldest and southern most Capital City, settled in 1804. The City’s population live, work and play in a thriving community offering a range of lifestyle choices.

The City of Hobart nestles between the natural beauty of Mt Wellington and the Derwent. River. The estuary and deep water harbour has established a rich maritime history that continues today with Hobart providing the destination for one of the world’s toughest blue water classics, the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and the homeport for Australia’s only icebreaker, Aurora Australis in voyaging to Antarctica. It is the southernmost port of call for many overseas cruise liners.

Hobart has an appealing blend of heritage and lifestyle, scenery and cultural events. It is an exciting environment featuring top class accommodation and restaurants that maximise the value and quality of the local produce. A range of events and activities take place in Sullivans Cove amidst the wonderful Georgian architecture.

Visitors to Hobart enjoy four seasons and have easy access to a range of experiences including internationally recognised tourist icons such as Wine Glass Bay at Freycinet on Tasmania’s East Coast, Port Arthur to the South, the rugged West Coast World wilderness and heritage areas and the world’s best wild brown trout fishery in the Central Highlands.
